About Me

I enjoy being able to create beautiful instruments and when these can produce beautiful music - that is greatly rewarding.

I have played music from a young age. As a child I enjoyed seeing Harpo Marx in the Marx Brothers films, and I was also taken to a concert by the Trio Los Paraguayos - featuring a Paraguayan harp.

Some years later I obtained an early 19th century Grecian pedal harp; bits were falling off it on the way home. In 1986 I enrolled at the London College of Furniture on a Musical Instrument technology course. I finished making a copy of the Grecian harp using the original mechanism and also made a Gregori Harpsichord. Whilst at the College I developed an interest in Early Harps and their development and history, and gradually became more interested in Triple Harps.

I started learning to play the harp in 1987. From 1988 until 1997 I worked as the sole craftsman / workshop manager for Clive Morley Harps in the new premises in Filkins, Gloucestershire.

In 1998 I started my own business in Bere Ferrers on the Bere Peninsula between the rivers Tavy and Tamar.

Instruments are made individually to customers' requirements: choice of wood, style, decoration, carving, pyrography, colour and finish.

Prices available on application.

I practise mostly on my 18thc Welsh Triple Harp, playing mainly Baroque and Welsh music.
